Madison's New Ride

Madison took her first ride in her new car seat this morning. I was really sad to trade in her infant seat for this one that will be with us for the next few years. I realized that her infant days are quickly coming to an end! I have to say.. Madison was very excited.

Now if you are wondering why she is taking her first ride in her pajamas then take a look at this....

This is my kitchen as of this morning and it has now looked like this for 2 weeks. We have spent a large number of meals eating standing up. I managed to squeeze out a few meals for my family in this atmosphere.. minus the plastic. Yesterday the plastic went back up in preparation of a demo of our old floors and installation of new ones. Yes, these are very nice, but somehow they don't match our new stairs, dining room, and living room floors! Oh well....nothing ever goes as planned.. right?? So Madison in her pajamas and I in my slippers made a trip to McDonalds!

We can't forget Uncle Mack...

Here's your shout out little brother! I forgot to include photos of Madison with her Uncle Mack. He came over to Jennie's to love all over her and I didn't even mention him in my original GA post! For those of you who aren't familiar.. Mack is known by "MyMack" to his nephew and two nieces. Maddie started it and I guess it has stuck.

A post about today.....
Madison has JUST now started to sit up in her crib. I think she just didn't realize she could! The first time she did it was two days ago. She was giggling abnormally when I put her down for a nap. I went to her video monitor and shot out of my room and in to hers. What I saw on the monitor was the top of her head. She was at the end of the crib and in my mind climbing out. (Keep in mind she is not fully pulling herself up and this would be the first time she has SAT UP in her crib.. yet I have her CLIMBING out of her crib and falling to the floor).... I guess I have the typical first time mom thoughts..... She has not done it since until this morning. I looked at the monitor, grabbed my camera, and raced in. My most favorite time of the day is when I get her up in the morning. This picture is very blurry. The room was pitch black so I don't think my camera could figure out what to focus on, but you get the idea. CHECK OUT THAT HAIR!

She is just flat out annoyed in this photo that I haven't yet picked her up. (Did you check out her hair? - HEE HEE)

We leave tomorrow for Greenville, SC. Jason's childhood friend, Kevin, is getting married. Madison will get some great time in with Nana and Pop!

While we are gone we are hoping and praying that our floors get finished... I'll update you one day when I feel like talking about it. :(

Our Trip To GA

Madison and I had a great trip to GA. On the ride down she slept, babbled, and fussed just a little. She was a great co-pilot. We celebrated several birthdays on our visit. Madison's cousin Maddie turned four on the 11th. Madison's uncle Kris turned 34 on the 12th and on the day we left, the 17th, Austin turned two. March is a big birthday month for the Marshall household. We were thrilled to be able to spend it with them.

This is Maddie's hair several months after she decided to do a self trim! Jennie made her cake. I think she did a GREAT job!

Kris had drill all week. Jennie, Maddie, Madison, and I spent the day shopping. On the way home we stopped off and got Kris his most favorite thing .. an ice cream cake. Jennie gave Maddie a little pep talk about how we were all going to surprise Kris with the cake. Well as soon as Kris walked through the door Maddie said "Hi Daddy! We got you an ice cream cake!" I'm not sure if there are any 4 year old girls who can keep a secret!
Here we are celebrating birthdays at Odie and Doonie's house. Madison even got a CUTE little dress. Odie and Doonie didn't want to leave her out. She liked the box the most.. I guess that is typical.
This is my favorite picture of the entire trip! We strapped all kids in to the bar stools and turned on some music while Jennie and I got their dinner ready. Maddie is learning to snap so she was showing off her skills. Madison just loves music so she was dancing! :) Austin.. well he was a little annoyed! HEE HEE
Austin gave up his toddler swing for Madison. Bless his heart.. it was all he could do to hang on and sway on the swing. He did not want anyone helping him.. he was being a "big boy" afterall. :)

Aunt Jennie and Madison

How do you bath 3 kids under 4 all at 7 p.m.? Throw them in the tub together! Three proved to be quite a crowd when Austin decided to flip over on his stomach and attempt to swim laps in the tub. Madison is still recovering from getting knocked over. She is not nearly as enthusiastic at bath time these days.

Still no post floor pictures yet... we are having a few technical difficulties to say the least. Stay tuned!

11 Months Old

I cannot believe yet another month has flown by and Madison is 11 months old. I am in the midst of planning her first birthday party. She has grown so much. She is all out rejecting her baby cereal and really enjoys feeding herself. She loves other kids. She becomes very vocal when she sees any other child. She fiercely kicks her legs when she is excited. She has mastered the scoot and moves at a rapid pace. Char told me that her son (he's 3) was pretending to be a baby so he scooted like Madison instead of crawling. I thought that was hysterical. Her hair has started to fall slightly over instead of standing straight up. However, it's still up enough to get comments from strangers!

We were singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" in this photo. She loves music!

She has started a new face and luckily I was able to capture it! Jason and I cannot stop laughing at this one. She pokes out her lips in an "O" shape and says "ooooohhhh." It's really funny.

St. Patrick's Day

We're finally home. My four day trip turned into a 7 day trip due to slow drying floors with the rainy weather. We are still trying to dig out of our renovation mess. This saga is to be continued.... I'll get "after" shots put up once we are 100% complete. Meanwhile, here are some CUTE St. Patty Day shots of Madison!

Farewell old carpet!!! I really hope it's worth it.. I mean look at my house!!! Apparently the dust from refinishing hardwoods gets everywhere and into everything. We are attempting to make things easier in the end by covering the cabinets and windows in plastic. It's 9:15 and very close to my bedtime. I still have so much to do to get ready to go to GA. I cannot wait to see my family and give Madison lots of play time with her cousins. So farewell from me too! I am dreading the drive and what will await me on my return. If you think you need to repaint your walls while it's decorated.. take everything off the walls and it's a million times worse. I think while the house is cleaned out we are going to try and repaint to the best of our ability... or my ability. I have a feeling I'm in this alone.

Back to normal... well sort of..

The weekend is over, Jason is home and Michele is gone. Boo... (On Michele's departure) Michele and I had a fantastic weekend of doing pretty much nothing! We shopped, ate, and talked a lot! We rented the movie "The Duchess." We started it at 8 p.m. and didn't finish until 11 p.m. It's not even a two hour movie, but we found ourselves pausing it to talk. HEE HEE!

Here's an updated photo of Michele and Madison. She took to Michele pretty quickly!

This photo was taken by my babysitter! See the BIG smile on my face?? I was excited to get out of the house to go shopping with Michele.

Here is the "sort of" back to normal part of my story. We have found ourselves (me and Jason) at a crossroads with our carpet. It's 10 years old and we are the second family with kids and dogs to give it much love. It's in pretty horrible shape. We couldn't seem to bring ourselves to replace the existing carpet with our two furry kids so we have decided to refinish our existing hardwood floors in the kitchen and extend them into the living and dining room. (Yes, we have carpet in the dining room... who does that?) We have been instructed to empty the entire downstairs of everything. That includes curtains, pictures, pantry, fridge, etc. Apparently, when you refinish floors dust gets everywhere. YUCK!

We spent a large part of yesterday evening trying to do just that.. empty out the bottom level. I am very excited to see the carpet go! But until then... my house looks like this!!!

I will post some before and after shots when the job is complete. I am leaving for GA this week to spend time with my family. Jason will stay behind to work and monitor the installation. I am REALLY nervous about my five hour drive alone with Madison. She is a great car rider, but hey everyone has their limits.

Boy Meets Girl and...

I lose my husband for the weekend? Jason is gone to Fripp Island for his childhood friend's bachelor party. He left this morning and is pretty excited to get in some "guy time." However, I could tell he was sad to leave Madison. So what am I going to do?! Luckily my college girlfriend and sorority big sister, Michele, is coming for a visit! She was here last October when Madison was six months old. Here's a picture from then...

We had such a great time and I can't wait until she gets here! What can two ladies and a baby get in to???

Monday Night Indulgence

This is the only time in my life that I have actually looked forward to Mondays. Normally I'm a Friday kind of girl, but not right now. I have watched The Bachelor and The Batchelorette in the past, but not since Trista have I had this much enthusiasm. My Monday night routine has been to put Madison to bed, slip on my pajamas, and grab a glass of wine. One of my BFF's and I text throughout the show providing additional commentary for one another. (It's quite hysterical). I am so excited about tonight.... not only to find out who he chooses, but to see the drama associated with DeAnna's return. I love a good rocking of the boat. The previews have shown Jason basically throwing himself wailing over a balcony since the first episode. They have replayed this scene each Monday night followed with a "stay tuned"to see what happens....and I can't wait to see what that is all about. It has to come out tonight... after all... it is the final episode.. and the most "dramatic rose ceremony EVER!!"

Snow Day!

I can't seem to get to work to finish up my final days. Madison had the stomach bug last week and this morning we woke up to 5 - 6 inches of snow!! Dell delayed their opening until 10 a.m. They NEVER close or delay so you know we must have gotten a good bit!
Here is the view from an upstairs window so you can compare to yesterday.

Jason and I bundled up Madison and headed out for a few shots. We were out really early this morning so we took turns taking photos.

Even if Jason had gotten my full body, you would not see my feet in this photo! The snow was deep enough that I was covered way over my ankles! I haven't seen this much snow in a long time!

The Perfect Excuse

I can't think of a better way to spend the first day of March than in my pajamas with a bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs. Normally, I would feel extremely guilty "wasting" a day that way. However, not today!! It's Sunday, very cold, rainy, and ice is accumulating on the trees and shrubs outside. This wintery mess is suppose to transition to snow this afternoon. We managed to get ourselves to church this morning, but as soon as we walked in the door I went to change. Not into my normal jeans attire, instead I reached for my pajamas. I put Madison in the biggest, most comfortable outfit I could find her.

A view of the day from my upstairs window.

Can you see the ice??

We'll see how much snow we get. We have heard as low as 3 inches and as high as 6 inches on the news....
