Surprise! Happy Birthday!!!

Jason's birthday was on Sunday.  I told Madison that it was daddy's birthday when I got her up that morning.  On the way down the stairs she saw Jason and screamed, "Surprise.. Happy BirthDAY!!"  To her they go hand in hand.. you can't say one without the other .. it's too cute.

Before church I attempted to take a picture of Jason with the kids.  (I'm still getting use to saying "kids" plural!)  If it wasn't Madison closing her eyes it was Jason.  I got two shots, snack in hand and this was the outcome.  Bummer!

Speaking of cute.. Tyler is working on tummy time.  Madison loves to put toys in front of him.  She gets really upset when I flip him off his tummy.

I don't really know what happened to the other sock...Jason called him the "one sock wonder."  I think he went half the day like that.. I just never go around to putting another one on after it disappeared.

Check out all that hair!

If I...

...pass my neighborhood while driving home one more time I may just move to the next one on the street.

...attempt to use Madison's size 5 diapers on Tyler's size 1 bottom one more time he may just have to work it out.

...back my car out of the garage before the garage door is all the way up I may lose more than the back windshield wiper.

...go to pick up Madison at preschool (Tyler in his car seat on one arm, her backpack, lunch box, and art work in the other) and she lays down in the middle of the hallway so I can't pick her up or grab her hand to get her to the car in one piece I may just leave her there.

... don't figure out how to get Madison in her car seat without being swatted at and told to "go way" I may never leave the house again.

...am in the middle of giving Madison a bath and she takes an entire cup of water and dumps it in my lap again, I just may not laugh next time.

...attempt to get a picture of Madison and Tyler together again, I'll make sure there are no toys around so she doesn't think he's trying to take them!  "NO, MINE!"  (This was the initial scene behind the cute picture I did get of them the other day.)

A Very Important Weekend

We had Tyler baptized on Father's Day.  "My Mack," Caitlin, Lori, John, Alston, and Parker all flew in to Austin for the big day.

I got our first babysitter on Saturday night and the adults went out.  I opted for a lady in her fifties.  Not sure I would trust someone much younger with 4 kids ages six, two, two next month, and six weeks!  I had been looking forward to this night out for a long time.  First stop was Fonda San Miguel for dinner.  It's an upscale Mexican restaurant in downtown Austin.

Jason and I at the dinner table...

Here are the guys posing after dinner... after I snapped the shot I was like.. really?? Could y'all look more silly?  Can you maybe act like you like each other?

So they did this....

Maybe not a framer, but a keeper. :)

Here are the girls...

After dinner we headed to 6th street to Esther's Follies.  Here is the stage...

Unfortunately, that is all the picture taking I had in me that night.  The show (a musical comedy) ended at midnight.  It was all I could do to get one foot in front of the other to get out the door and to the car.  My poor brother and his wife were all ready to hit the bars on 6th street.  However, I knew I would would have to get up shortly after going to bed to feed Tyler.

The next morning was the baptism.  Here is Tyler in his ADORABLE smocked bubble...

Here is a close up of his monogrammed shoes.. (something had to be monogrammed!)

These pictures are blurry.  I realized I set the camera wrong for Caitlin to take pictures.

Madison did really well up front.  However, I found out that I'm not the only one she doesn't want to hear sing these days.  We went up front toward the end of a hymn.  She pointed to the congregation once we got up front and said.. "NO SINGING!!"  I put her hand down and told her it would be over in a minute.  She stuck her thumb in her mouth!

Tyler did really well.  He was awake for the baptism, but did not cry.

This is my favorite picture.. we are all praying over him.

Mack and Caitlin were the first to leave.  We snapped this photo right before Jason took them to the airport.

Lori and John left Monday morning...  I'm behind the camera.  (Madison was a little cranky.. Jason stood 8 feet away from John to make sure she didn't head butt Tyler.  It's a good thing...!

Thank y'all for flying in and making this weekend even more special!  We love you!!!

I guess I reallly REALLY can't sing...

All my life I have sung out loud.  Not a quiet type of humming, but full out belting the tunes.  In fact, I'm kinda known for it.  We can be anywhere anytime and I'll break into song.  I don't even realize I'm doing it unless I'm with someone who doesn't know me very well or very long and gives me an "OMG" kind of look.

When I was little and riding in the car with my dad, he said... "Hey Shelby, what did you do with the money I gave you?"  "What money dad?"  "The money for singing lessons?!!"  In fact, during his last visit, he asked me what I did with the money Jason gave me.. I realized then I was singing and just laughed and said, "the money for singing lessons?!"

Sometimes when I'm in the middle of a tune Jason will say "is that angels I hear singing?"  I just keep on singing and he really doesn't seem to mind.  That's probably one of the reasons I married him. :)

None of this has ever bothered me... However, this morning I was taking Madison to school and singing right along with Lady Antebellum "Need You Now" when Madison pulls her thumb out of her mouth and hollers "NO SINGING!"  (Kind of like .. I just can't take it anymore!!).  She then stuck her thumb back in her mouth satisfied once I closed my mouth.

I sucked in my breath in disbelief.. All I could really do at that moment was laugh.

Our week in a list

1. My video monitor officially died.  This is how I found it this morning... I guess Jason was trying to "fix" it.
2. I developed mestitis and am on antibiotics
3. Madison pee peed on the potty at school
4. I was leaving my house to take food to a friend that just had a baby.  After a huge battle with Madison who just wanted to ride anywhere in the car, but in her carseat was finally secured I went to get into the driver's seat and realized I was still in my house shoes (Jason cracks up every time I say "house shoes").  If it had not been raining I would have left them on.
5.  I assisted in hosting a breakfast for a dog and a monkey

6.  My sister turned 34 which means I'm 18 months away from being that old.
7.  My brother-n-law returned from a 2 month army tour in Rwanda
8.  Madison has become a little mamma right before my very eyes..  This gives me hope that she'll be changing Tyler's diapers in the near future!

9.  I gained massive upper body strength.. not because I mastered carrying a toddler and infant in a car seat at the same time, but because I mastered carrying all of Madison's treasured items from her bed in the morning and back to bed at night. (She insists on having her entourage with her at all times)

10.  I didn't think it could happen, but it did.  Tyler got just a little bit cuter!
