Let me first start out this post by saying all of these photos were taken with our point and shoot.  I just did not have it in me to cart my Nikon around.  I would also like to note that Jason was the photographer on this trip.  I really had it in my head that we would take a ton of photos.  It just didn't happen... By the time we had a moment to grab the camera I think we were both just too tired!!

We flew back to North Carolina to have Thanksgiving with Jason's family.  I managed to get our whole family packed in two suitcases for one week.  We checked the luggage and headed with Madison in her stroller and Tyler in the Bjorn to security.  I flew in August with Tyler and I was allowed to go through security without taking him out of the Bjorn.  After taking off every ones shoes, getting everything including the stroller up on the security belt and notifying them of my breast milk in a bottle I attempted to step through the scanner.  The guard told me that I could either take Tyler off and put the Bjorn on the belt or I could be patted down.  Have you seen the Today show lately?  I had him out of the carrier in two seconds.  (All in all they were really nice and I think really felt sorry for us.  They kept apologizing for having to test my breast milk and juice and for having to put us through all of that.)

On the flight from Austin to Atlanta, Madison rode between me and Jason.

We had a short layover in Atlanta so Jason ran with Tyler to grab lunch.  A guy sitting near us told Jason that he watched him walking through the airport to us and all he could think was "The Hangover."  This gave me a good chuckle.

On the flight from Atlanta to Greensboro the plane was a lot smaller.  So there were only two seats on each side.  Madison sat next to me and Tyler sat in my lap.  Jason sat across the aisle with a Chatty Cathy.  I managed to get Tyler to sleep pretty much in this position....

He had been fussing so once he fell asleep I did not want to move a muscle.  Madison takes this opportunity to grab a wad of my hair and start pulling.  Let me just note that she has NEVER done this before.  I'm yelling at her in a whispered voice to let go of my hair all the while not moving and trying to keep the jerking of my head to a minimum.  Well this just fuels her fire.. and she continues to pull while laughing hysterically.  I start yelling for Jason and he turns and pries her fingers from my hair!

Our good friends came to Jason's sisters house to visit.  The last time I saw my friend Amy we were both pregnant with these boys!  Tyler is a month older than Oliver.  Cute huh?

Madison was thrilled to be with her cousins.  She and Parker are 3 months apart.

There was a house FULL of toys and a kitchen full of women cooking.  Where did Madison want to be??  Right in the middle of it!

Jason's sister is so sweet.  She didn't care a bit that they were destroying her spice drawer.  Parker was right there in the middle of it too.  By the time we had enough sense to grab the camera he had moved on.

I'm standing behind Tyler.  I don't quite trust him not to fall back and smack his head on the floor.

We celebrated three birthdays while there for the week.  "Uncle John's" birthday was one of them.

Madison helped Pop hand out presents.

Turkey dinner.. the adult table...

and the under 25 table...

Madison was driving her almost seven year old cousin crazy!  (Notice her hand on his pocket?)  She would say ... "ALSTON, ALSTON, ALSTON...."  and he would finally say.. "WHAT??!!!" and she would just smile... HA HA HA

I'm really disappointed Jason did not get a picture of the whole table!

Early in the week I booked a photo session with my old NC photographer.  I was so excited to get Tyler's six month photos made with her.  I was praying for a few with both kids.  We were supposed to take the photos outside, but we got rained out and ended up in her studio.  See how Madison is in this photo??..

and this one?  Well that about sums up how she was at the photo session.  It was great.

I guess you just can't tell a two year old to get in front of a camera and smile.. or at least not mine.  I've now dressed my kids twice trying to get Christmas card photos with no luck.  It may just be Tyler on the card this year.. HA HA HA.

Oh.. check her out in this one with her Granny (Jason's grandmother) and her cousins and aunt.

The four generations.. Saidee (Jason's grandmother), his sister (Lori), his mom (Nana) and the kids.

Madison and Parker play really well together for two year olds.  I love hearing their little conversations.  Madison was coloring at one point and Parker went up to her and said.. "You want to play with my TOYS?"   (Drawn out and high pitched..) She said, "not right now.. I coloring"

Turkey Lunch at Preschool

Jason, Tyler and I joined Madison for lunch or shall I say brunch at her preschool today.  Since she is in the youngest class we ate at 10:45.  She was so excited to see us!  When we walked in to the dining area they were already placing our lunch on the table.  The kids had made these ADORABLE place mats so they used those as place cards.  Lucky for us they put Madison's click together!  HA HA.. So we sat next to her buddies Ansley and Catie and their parents (also our buddies).

So we sit down and I attempt to get some photos of her at close range.

What do you think Madison is doing in this photo?

a) passing bread
b) playing hot potato
c) throwing her mashed potatoes off of her own plate and on to mine

If you guessed "A" .. I wish.  "B" or "C" will actually suffice as the correct answer.  "I don't yike these" was her answer when I put down my camera and said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"  I actually had no idea I caught this moment until I uploaded the photos this evening.  I'm not sure if I'm more disturbed that she did that or that the MASHED potatoes held together for the hand off.

When I looked over her lunch plate I pretty much knew she would not eat any of it but the bread...

which she stuck on her plastic knife and tried to eat it like a corndog.  I did put down the camera when I realized she was bringing it to her mouth.  I think we need some table manners 101.

Why do you think I'm getting the stink eye in this photo?

a) Madison is not a touchy feely girl and I'm in her personal space
b) she's tired of having her picture taken
c) she is ticked off that I am holding down her arm so she stops flailing her knife around

I'm sure you guessed correctly.  I'm loving my death grip on her arm and my sweet smile in the photo.  You can see Tyler is in his stroller behind us.. not sleeping during his nap time, but rockin' his halo.

I left and ran a few errands after her brunch and when I returned to pick her up I received her school photo proofs...   They aren't the best.. It's like they said her name and she said.. "huh" and then they snapped the photo.  I would buy it no matter what..

I bought a ton of these....HA HA!

Happy Hump Day

All my friends know it, my husband knows it, and I'm sure to some degree my kids know it.  I hate Wednesdays.  I like to be scheduled with things to do and places to go.  Wednesday is my wild card day for appointments, errand running, spur of the moment play dates, but a lot of Wednesdays I find us with nothing to do!!  I keep trying to schedule the kids for the gym childcare Wednesday mornings and even calling a day in advanced it always seems to be booked.  I guess I'm not the only one looking for an outlet. This Wednesday was no different and we just had nothing to do!  I needed to get a few things at Target so I figured we would run there and then I would take the kids to the park.

However, I knew I had one daunting task before we left the house.  Madison wakes up every morning with a dry diaper and it's usually still dry after breakfast so I try to get her on the potty.  A lot of times she will go.. that is if I bring it out and place it in front of the TV and show her the goods before she goes.. she has to make sure the reward is worth the effort.  Oh my child!  During our negotiation this morning I looked at her and could just tell she was going in her diaper.  (I guess I need to find some new treats).  It became really apparent when soon she was standing in a puddle.  I couldn't figure it out.. the child had on a diaper.  One that was completely empty two seconds earlier.  I'm still not sure how it happened, but she needed a new pair of pants and shoes.  Ugh!  Not to mention I had to mop up pee first thing.

I get her redressed, grabbed Tyler and headed for the garage.  I yelled to Madison.. "Come on baby girl.. we are going SHOPPIN'!!"  She grabs her "luby," screams "I coming mama" and starts running after me through the kitchen when she trips over the leg of one of the stools and face plants on the tile.  I placed Tyler on the couch and ran to upright her.  She was holding her lip and there was blood and I immediately saw the chipped tooth.  Did I mention I hate Wednesdays?  She told me "I feel better mama" and I placed her on the couch and called the dentist.  She immediately put her thumb in her mouth.. (really?!)

When I told her we were going to the dentist she said.. "Oh they will be so happy to see me!!"  What a hoot!  She got an x-ray and said the tooth should be fine.  We have to wait a month and then we can make a decision to have it fixed or wait.

On the Camera..

Tyler's days in his infant car seat are numbered.  He weighed 20 pounds and 9 ounces at his six month check up!!  (He is 90th percentile for both weight and height).  The infant seat capacity is 22 pounds.  I dread the transition because I know the infant carrier makes transporting him and naps on the go so much easier.

These photos are horrible, but the best I could do to capture the moment.  We had a plate party at a recent play date.  This lady uses your kid's prints to paint plates.  (You can see some examples in the background). I am so excited to get our plates.

Madison wanted to do it.. "by myself."

I needed to give Tyler juice and Madison jumped on it.  She wanted to feed him.  She had a little trouble at first...

but quickly got the hang of it!

Baby Mum Mums are still a hit.  In fact Madison insists on eating them too.  I was shocked one day at lunch when she pushed back her plate and stated, "Baby Mum Mum, please."  I had no idea she even knew what they were called.  It's amazing what they pick up.  (Poor Tyler!  I just realized I put a pink bib on him again!  I swear he has blue ones!)

When ever Madison sees our neighbor she runs up to her like she has big news for her.  Our neighbor always responds with "Oh Gosh!!" in a real sweet voice.  Madison has started saying ... "Oh GOSH!"  I'm not sure if that is good or bad!

Jason brought home frozen custard for us one afternoon after running errands with Madison. Madison's was chocolate with chocolate syrup and a brownie!  Mine was coconut and pineapple.  I felt like for a moment we were strangers... Let's just say I had a firm discussion with him that the next time he wants to do something nice for me mine better involve chocolate too!

This was just one morning before taking Madison to school...  She gets so excited when I go get Tyler up and bring him downstairs!  She still calls him her baby sissy.. She about took out a kid this morning while waiting to go into school.  He is a classmate and just wanted to look at Tyler in the stroller.  She pushed him out of the way and said, "NO!  My baby sissy!!!"

Look who just went and grew up over night!!  That's right.. he's sitting up!!

He's also real excited because on the exact same day he decided to sit up... he woke up with his first tooth!!

Tyler - Six Months

Six months?!!  I feel like we are beginning the countdown to Tyler's first birthday.  He's working very hard on sitting up.  We've had a little talk and I've given him until the week of Thanksgiving to master it.  We are having his 6 month photos made that week and it's a must! :)

In addition to oatmeal I've started giving him fruits and veges.  He is a much better eater than his sister and will pretty much eat anything.  I pulled out my "Super Baby Food" book I bought when Madison started solids for a little refresher.  It says that avocado is a great first food... and I quote, "mashed ripe avocado is an excellent first food for baby.  They are so nutritious that some claim humans can live on them exclusively."  Oh yes!  I remember this with Madison.  I also remember that is the only food Madison has actually thrown up because she was so disgusted by the taste.  I thought for sure Tyler would love it...

I was wrong.

That night at the dinner table was a rough one.  This is not Madison playing peek-a-boo.  This is my child having a complete fit!  Do you ever have those nights?  She was tired and cranky and I think hungry.  It was not fun.

I've also started giving Tyler Mum Mums.  I don't think they had these around when Madison was a baby.  If they did I didn't know about them.  I fed her teething biscuits.  Or shall I say biscuit.. without the "s".  They were such a mess that she had one in her life, ever.  These really don't make much of a mess and Tyler loves them.  He can already feed himself the whole thing!

I bought this basket at Target and I love it!  (Too bad I have forgotten to take the tag off!)

No teeth yet!  He continues to get up between five and six in the morning.  He eats and goes right back down until eight or nine.

I took all these pictures right before his big afternoon nap so he's looking quite tired.  Even when he's tired he's sweet.  He has a clogged tear duct (his right eye).  Madison had it too, however, she had long grown out of hers by six months.  I'm hoping he'll grow out of it soon.

Madison is great about getting toys for him to play with.

Here is Madison at six months wearing one of my all time favorite outfits I might add!  She started to loose her hair between 5 and 6 months.  When Tyler was 5 1/2 months he still had all of his hair and I was thinking maybe he would keep it.  Just this past week I started to see the signs.  He had one little bald patch develop and then I noticed hair in the car seat and in his crib.  He's lost about as much as she had in her photos!  They both kept the patch on top and a patch in the back.

Same hat, different baby!

We go to the doctor tomorrow for his six month check up.  I can't wait to find out how much he weighs.
